In response to "now do a time share pitch weekend -- nm" by charlie

I endured a meeting a couple of weeks back...

It was a video conference call with most of the higher ed schools in the state. We did a round robin where we each discussed our video-in-education solutions. I cringed at the hodge-podge mess they were using, a clear reflection of decentralized services and slick sales pitches. I knew the products well. When it came to us, everyone looked to me and so I laid out how it was, and what we did.

I then proceeded to gingerly prompt the schools to elaborate about some of the solutions they had implemented because it was clear that other schools were clearly considering these same solutions. The sales people are like a virus spreading through the industry. Without any context, one client admitting to using a product sounds like an endorsement to everyone else. "Well, we've been using 'Kick in the Nuts' for 5 years now." The conversation boiled down to "Tell me where 'Product A' touched you." I felt like an attorney having just broken a witness on the stand. I should have dropped the mic and walked out.
