You don't care, but I feel like sharing: I have mentioned that I work with someone who is co-dependent and controlling.

eg, she often takes it upon herself to come in to my office uninvited and "see how I'm doing". If I take the bait and mention anything other than "I'm 100% great!", she will then try to give me unsolicited advice and will persist even after I have politely shown lack of interest in that advice.

I have worked really hard to maintain appropriate boundaries with her, in part because I fear that giving her an inch will lead to even more meddling in the future, but in part because I'm just a stubbord bitch who doesn't want to acknowledge that she is (slightly) senior to me in the firm pecking order.

I was realizing the other day that if I would give in and let her "mentor" me, it would actually be a good thing for my career. But even knowingly that, it's just not worth it.

So anyway.........
