Dumb question - is there some sort of rule of thumb regarding how long it takes to get through to a radio station when they are giving something away?

Like, if you don't get through within X seconds/minutes, then you should just hang up?

The radio station I listen to is giving away concert tix every day this week on my way home from work - I want to win! :)
