I thought they were close, but then WWZ's opening is being spun as a success so I wondered.

For all of these big movies, it's all about international box office anyway. At this point it's domestic that has become the icing on the cake, but Man of Steel is being called a bomb when after next weekend it will be the #2 movie of the year domestically, beating out several similarly budgeted films that haven't been called bombs. We'll see how fares overseas - I don't know that it can catch FF6 worldwide for #2. BTW, the #3 film worldwide for the year so far is actually The Croods.
