In response to "It is being alleged that a Texas Republican made another ignorant comment regarding rape. I've seen no source, but if it's true it's a doozy." by TWuG

What news show was talking about how across the country there are some 400,000 rape kits sitting in evidence rooms UNPROCESSED ....

I don't know what percentage of rape cases that is, but its just shocking that so many women having first experienced an act of violence, then took the time to seek help, or report it to police, or did it at a hospital ER only to have the problem ignored, brushed off (or worse as a recent local case suggests)

in the San Fran bay area it was remarkable how vastly differently the crime of rape is treated across a political/police jurisdiction border, berkely and oakland abutt and you can only tell by a sign on some major streets. but in berkeley rape is investaged, victims kept in touch with, even hookers.
In oakland they were mostly all assigned to some senior douche bag who assumed apparently anyone raped was a whore or slut and hardly any were actually investigated. it was noticed when a few serial rapists made the mistake of crossing the city lines and ooops getting a cop on their ass who began noticing similar crimes in oakland but not much in comparitive notes. wtf?

I thought this might just be an isolated police department here and there, but

400,000 un looked at evidence kits means a system wide meh. and it shows when a guy is charged as a serial rapist and could have been caught years and a dozen victims earlier.

locally a gal was raped by window intruder. not only was she brushed off (she was a foster gal living in a group home) but her former carebitch reported oh she's such a drama queen, that the cops harranged her for days till she backed out and let them get her to agree it was a false report, she was then charged as a crime, she served 30 days? 3 years later, the guy was picked up in CO, confesses, her evidence kit was looked at finally, oh gee we're sorry.
