at my mom's house, there are still some feral (some more than others) cats/kittens in the back yard.
there are a couple who get close to the sliding glass door and look in, watching the indoor show; and I know they'd break-in if they could. (the backyardikins are fed, watered, some petted, etc. hoping they'll find homes at some point, but it's not *inside* - aww.)
otoh, there are a couple of her cats who regularly try to escape, because they think life looks better for the outdoorikins; but they wouldn't like it at all if they really were out there long. so spoiled.
