In response to "Maternity care and childbirth cost far more in the United States than in other developed countries... -- (link)" by Don Homer

I know I had discussed our medical bills here after N was born - just tronned.

A weeks hospital stay, including c section, was "only" 12k. That is apparently on the higher end of normal for our area, but we were shocked it wasn't more.

The high risk OBs itemized bill showed charges of 18k for the months of December and January. That was for twice weekly sonograms and a growth scan every 3rd week.

We were very lucky to have decent insurance. I saw 3 doctors during my pregnancy (OB, high risk OB, endocrinologist). The amount we spent on company's alone was ridiculous. I don't know what we would have done if our insurance didn't cover prenatal care and the hospital visits.
