In my experience, people too often are expecting to move in and not have to do any work....if there is work, they expect price to reflect...

Watching some of the HGTV shows, however leads me to believe that some people are way too demanding and if they dont get 98% of their expectations, they are willing to walk away or want significant discounts. Its really annoying.
When I bought, I bought a home that was priced because it needed a bit of work (still does).
By work, I knew that at a minimum it required repainting most of the walls and new carpets (the previous tenants smoked in the bedrooms) and we put down laminate in most of the living areas. This cost about $5000 in total and probably added double that in value.
