For most the impression is more important than the fact that they could reduce purchase price and replace. A couple of reasons for that. First, you

can't finance replacing carpeting and such the way you can in the mortagage. Second is just the immediate visceral reaction. People see what they see and want to be able to see themselves in the place. Looking beyond the veneer is not easy for everyone. That's why staging is important.
