I heard today that if he goes to a State like Texas without Income Tax it will only cost him 8.9 million over the contract length.

Then you add in that he can sign another deal a year earlier to recoup that and it's in favor of him leaving. Assuming he doesn't get injured and diminish his value for that second contract.
