the writers can write the best (or worst) script in the world but once it's in the director's hands for shooting, they have virtually no say over how much of what's on the page either does or does not end up on the screen
it may be that Terry & Ted's script was flawed in it's inception but i don't think anyone knows at this point how much of what Gore Verbinski (and Johnny Depp) actually shot stuck to their original script
