I am sure it was, but it's still surprising that it was that high considering that many of us have parents born very close to then.

I don't remember any of my grandparents having siblings die very young but I do remember them talking a lot about diseases that are now very rare or much less serious.

Though most kids when I was young got chicken pox or measles and now if you have more than a few in a local area there are serious health procedures in place to control the spread.
