things are going badly and she starts pestering the campaign to run a poll in Alaska to find out her approval rating. Essentially wondering how she's doing at home if she has to slither back in defeat.
The campaign reluctantly spends the money to do it. The results are in and aren't bad. The Campaign Manager tells her but she still doesn't believe they actually ran the poll.
It's a running gag for about 15mins in the movie.
