They appreciated the non-stop nature and didn't have any complaints about the airline AFAIK, other then possibly slow baggage hnadling at Punta Gorda (which may have been the local airport staff, not sure)

IME, Allegiant focus on non-stop routes where one end of the route it a secondary or even tertiary airport. Can be very convenient if Allegiant operates a non-stop flight that you can't get on any other airline. Of course, LA to Honolulu flies in the face of that model!

According to seatguru, the seat pitch is 30 inches which is not abysmal. Most airlines are 30-32 in coach.
