Maybe not.
We know that the Faraday we saw when the Wheel Room was first discovered was a future Faraday.
At some point he travels to the past in the Island and works around Dharma where he meets his Mom, warms Charlotte never to return or she'll die, etc.
He may have been on the Island as a kid, left and then returned on the freighter. Nothing (IIRC) indicates he's been off and on a number of times.
