What I mean is, it was sort of inevitable from casting Craig that they'd get to that point very quickly.

Bond has been an out-of-date character for a long time. In Die Another Day, he was an expendable asset because he was out of touch. In Goldeneye, he was a relic of the Cold War. In View to a Kill, he was just old. Etc...
