A guy staying where he wants to be is hard from a horror movie scenario.

He was free and clear to leave if he wanted, and there' a good chance he would get close to what the extension will be worth. The free agent class next season is not very good. But he should know very well about an injury impacting your career and your value. He got security and stability, and seems to want to stay in Baltimore.

Looking at what the team could be in 2010-2013(the years of his rumored extension), I don't blame him. It probably helps that (I think) he's good friends with Markakis, who was just locked up for a while.
