The show will at least give you the major plotlines. You can still get the full picture without the live feeds if you read the daily recaps at the fan sites.

I pay for the live feeds, but I don't generally sit around watching them live. I'll read the recaps and then go back and watch the times when the fan sites say something interesting happened.
