permitting them to do things at home that you would not condone if they were out without you. Kids only get the part where it's ok (note that a sip of wine or a taste of beer I don't find the same as pouring them a glass). I've seen this with my nephew. They allow him to drink at home with some regularity and then are upset when they find out he's been out drinking with his friends. They've also smoked weed with him and then worry about him getting high. You just can't send mixed messages like that.
