J, there isn't an easy way. You have to grind.

There is a loop at the Hall of Heroes before you use the lightning to enter the next area. If you start from that door, go all the way to the spot where you have to use the lightning rod and go back, you can usually earn about 500 gold. I call it a lap. About 60 laps will net the 30k needed to buy everything in the game. There is also an area in a gift shop you can open with lightning. There is a piece of gear in there that recurs.
If you have the time, patience and inclination, you can get every piece of gear in the game as well as enough gold to buy everything. It is probably 8-10 hours of grinding, though. I would do it while I catching up on Burn Notice on the other tv.
