it (it takes around 3 hours) you have to lie perfectly still. If you move the wrong way, you can easily pull the shunt out then bleed to death in about 2 minutes. I had it 6 days in a row, every time they were finished, my back ached, my head hurt, I had to pee, and I was nauseated as hell. I pray to god I never have to do it ever again.
