This may be a stupid technical question, but if I have a 3D tv, do I need a 3D blu-ray player to play 3D DVD's, and if so, does it matter which 3D

technology is involved (i.e. if I have passive 3D glasses, do I need to get a blu-ray player from a company that uses that technology versus a company that uses the active shutter 3D technology)? I got a new tv that has passive 3D technology and I'm not sure why any regular blu-ray player wouldn't work with that. Do the DVD's come in different formats?
