I had to have a little nerd-to-nerd talk with one of the kids in my camps this week.

We had a bit of downtime and somehow the topic of Star Wars came up. One of the boys in my group seized on this and asked one of the girls (all ages about 5 in this story) if she liked it. "Oh, I like Star Wars because there's a princess in it." This was his cue to go off to the races about the prequels and the Clone Wars etc etc ... and you could see the girl turn about 16 in an instant - it was a flash of the "you're boring. Why are you still talking?" look. So I had to give the boy a little talk about how it's OK to like your things, just not to talk about them *all* the time or you'll scare off the girls.
