Not many productions try; and most of them that do are lacking in the overall storyline to the sequels

Matrix was solid right up till the 3rd movie happened
POTC 2 & 3 were both weak, #3 was worse.
If the story is good, the idea is good. But there haven't been good stories to go with the concept.
