I guess I've just always equated tipping with waiter/waitress/bartender - not a cashier?

I totally get what you're saying ... and some times when there's a tip jar or bowl I'll toss whatever change I get back into it - but if I'm paying with a credit card - which is usually the case - I don't really write in a tip on a to go order.
