it'll be the same for the Dodgers.

The Yanks have said repeatedly they're trying to get under the 189m mark so they can save millions in taxes (just 1 year resets them).

They signed an historically shitty contract, making history banning only gives them the benefit of getting out from this shit contract (that everyone knew was shit) and lets them reset their tax bill even though they fucked this up every way possible.

Fuck that, they don't need help, much less an historical over-reaction to banning him for life.
