It sets up, what I consider to be, an unfair situation. Pujols is a perfect example, IMO

Everyone knew that contract would be an albatross for Anaheim...and they're fucking stuck with it. They have to pay him, they take the cap hit and that's just too bad for them.
Everyone knew that ARod's contract would be an albatross for the Yankees...but they might get out of it. Why? Because their guy's a cheater and not broken down? So they don't have to pay him OR take the cap hit?
That doesn't strike me as fair for 2 organizations that essentially did the same thing...signed a dude to a ridiculous contract that everyone knew would never be fully honored on the field.
