it's not a coping thing ...

you can have an imbalance in your brain chemistry that makes you psychotic such that your understanding of things is fundamentally changed to the point of believing things that are beyond our comprehension.

believe me, I have experienced this in someone close and then after meds kick in that all goes away. after a year or two, meds may or may not be required are a safeguard.
