Today in Wiggie White People Problems: My neighboring coworker is making me crazy

I've been on a 4 month assignment working in a client's office. We are in an open plan (basically long tables with no dividers-so less privacy than a cube). My neighbor on one side is a lovely, lovely person and I would never want to hurt her feelings, buuuuut....

she mutters to herself while she is working (causing me to look up from what I'm doing to see if she's actually talking to me). I wear headphones when I want to shut out the muttering, but eventually she wants to chit chat and starts talking to me despite the headphones!

I do actually chat with her a fair amount during the day, so I'm not totally anti-social, but WTF? Respect the headphones!
