They charge per episode. Vudu allows pre-season purchase.

Take for example Go On from last season. I was paying $2.99 an episode so that's $66 for the full season. The instant the season was over, they dropped the price to a single price point of $14.99.
At Vudu, I could buy anything at the start of the Fall for a set price. Like, I could buy Breaking Bad for $22.99 and not have to worry about it again or be billed repeatedly. The same deal is available via iTunes. It's a *much* better system and I'm stunned Amazon isn't following suit.
