"it has been really great having a chance to catch up with you. i will be busy travelling a lot in the near future so won't be on email a lot. be sure to let me know if you are going to be in town again (other than October when i will be in (wherever). It is always nice to get a chance to see what people i knew back in the day are up to now."

it is a bit of a brush off without being a jerk.
