But I wonder...does he discount his fees for every single self pay patient that comes through the door? No, he doesn't. And neither does that anesthesiologist or the hospital.
I mean, it's an awesome one-off "see why Obamacare sucks" incident.
It's all of the other uninsured poor people out there that don't get the same treatment as this particular guy...they get stuck with the same price gouges and will either end up getting Medicaid or just getting a judgement taken against them.
The day all providers start negotiating with ALL patients...that's when things can change. But this is the first time I've ever heard of a doctor/hospital doing this.
