The lead singer for The Calling reportedly survived a hellish assault early Sunday morning after being abducted off a Michigan street and severely beaten.
Alex Band, 34, had been walking from his hotel in Lapeer, Mich., to a nearby convenience store when he was ambushed by two men who pulled him into a van and applied a vicious beatdown inside the vehicle, TMZ reported.
Sources told the gossip site that the badly beaten Band was later dumped at nearby train tracks, where he was ultimately discovered by searchers who were mobilized by the singer’s bandmates.
Lapeer police said Monday that the motive appeared to be robbery.
Band was treated at a local emergency room and later released.
It was supposed to be a triumphant weekend for The Calling — best known for their 2001 hit, “Wherever You Will Go” — which had recently reunited. The pop band was in town to headline the Lapeer Days Festival after playing their first show after their reunion Friday night in Atlantic City.
"Thankful to be back on stage doing what I love! First show back as #TheCalling tonight at @BallysAC! Doors at 8 show at 10! #AtlanticCity," Band tweeted Friday night.
