I think it was the best they could have done faithfully to the book -- that said, it was still boring as hell.

they picked a series of uncharismatic people...without Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jackie Earle Haley, that thing would have doubled as sleep pills.
I never got the sense the Supers were lifeless in the book, just weary from life.
