Brief story: My wife and I have a pretty consistent policy about slapping cars that almost run us over. Reasonable, right?

I mean, if you're close enough to get slapped, you deserve it, plus we're not hitting your car with a chain, it's a soft, fleshy hand. It's to send a message. Usually not a problem - most people think for half a second and decide that getting out of their car and making a scene when they were in the wrong isn't worth it. Plus.. they got a car right there... can't exactly chase me.

Allie is in Maine. She was waiting for a crosswalk to turn. It turns, she walks, and this guy cuts a hard left cutting off the traffic in the other direction and almost hits my wife. She slaps his car, proceeds to the sidewalk.

Dude gets out of his car (big guy, early 20s, over 6 feet) and says

"Hey, why you touching my property?"

Wife says "If you didn't almost hit me, I wouldn't have touched your car."

He responds "I'm going to beat the shit out of you."

"Oh, right here, in front of everybody?"

This is in the heavy tourist part of town... there are tons of people, who stopped and looked when he said what he did.

"Yeah, I'm going to beat the fucking shit out of your right here."

My wife said "Ok, come on, let's do this." And bows up, ready to fight.

He just stood there and said "You shouldn't touch my property."

Allie flipped him off and walked away. He just stood there, then got in his car.

The hell's wrong with people? And he had no follow-through. That would have been interesting.
