Actually, most of the time, I'd wager it's not. I'm sure that every once in a while a driver IS trying to run someone over.

but more likely, it's that they're not paying attention, in a hurry, on a phone, fucking with the radio, their makeup, their shirt...anything but watching the road.
All of this, while dangerous and making me want to judy chop them in the throat, has nothing to do with the pedestrian.
Physically reaching out and striking the car is a confrontational act...unless you were on the phone, in a hurry or something that caused you to accidentally reach out and strike their car.
