There's a chapter in WWZ where Waingro talks about how combat doctrine was unprepared for Zombie warfare because the enemy had no instinct for self-

-preservation. The "Shock and Awe" didn't work, and it completely ruined the Army's ability to wage a conflict, because the root of winning a fight (previously) was NOT killing every single one of your enemy.

Any time you provoke a conflict (especially with a stranger), you are gambling that because you are right (or in public, or whatever), your opponent will back down. That works fine, as long as your opponent is as normal and civil as you.

Not sure how comforting it is to know you were right if a psycho responds by shooting you, though.
