metallic crashing sound. Seems a contractor's pickup carrying some kind of sheet metal strips made a hard stop as the light changed and the load on his rack flew over the cab and landed in the middle of the intersection. He was lucky he was the first car in line and the cross traffic hadn't yet got that far across on the green. I was turning left as he was gathering up his cargo.
