It's a response to the complaints from customers who don't see all the discounts clearly.

Receipts couldn't possibly be more convoluted. Regular price, sale price, buy 2/get 3rd free, "member" discount, coupon... Having it all show up clearly on the receipt is nearly impossible. I often spend many long minutes deciphering a receipt to see if a coupon cleared or if I got a sale price. I've noticed that receipts have gotten longer recently, but also clearer. Each item is a line item on the receipt, followed by all discounts.
