ST Quandary help please

My parents are coming to visit next month (that's not the quandary).

My mom grew up on, and loves, the boy and girl groups of the 50s and early 60s. She has always wanted to see Jersey Boys. I know I need to surprise her with tickets.

My dad is a wonderful guy with few needs. He's not really into material things, or pop culture, or really many worldly things at all. (Makes gift shopping a nightmare, but that's a separate issue). I figure he remembers the bands of the Jersey Boys error, but is just as likely to find the theater crowded, cramped, and loud.

So I am trying to decide if I get a third ticket for him.

I would like it to be an outing with both of my parents but if my father is just going to tolerate the experience simply to make me happy, I don't want to put the imposition on him.

On the flip side, I feel bad just going out and doing something with mom while I leave him alone. We do that (often) when I visit my parents and he truly does not mind. But we have limited time together here and I would like to include him.

Am I wasting money and making him have a terrible time if I buy him a ticket? Or is there a chance he'll be surprised and enjoy himself?
