Berlin's new airport is making the Denver airport and Miami Terminal D development look like great project management.

Berlin's new airport was originally supposed to open in 2011, but these initial dates always push out so we'll give them a pass on the first couple of missed opening dates.

But the airport was really, really supposed to open on June 3 last year. Like, all the airlines were planning their moves, tickets were sold to commemorative "last flights from Tegel" airport (it will close when the new airport opens), etc. This was the real deal.

Then, just *26 days* days before that opening date, they realized the fire alarm system was sorta kinda not up to code and pushed opening to March 2013. Just 26 days before opening.

And in September (last year) they pushed the opening to October 2013.

And in January this year, they announced the airport, which was 26 days away from opening and functioning as Berlin's only airport last year, will not open until at least 2014. At least.

And now a report that there are "more than 66,000 problems still requiring attention. "
