We have a problem with mildwey caulk in our shower. Today I removed the caulk and am putting some other thing on instead (more like a protective

strip that will keep moisture out).

So, I cleaned the tub and shower and rinsed before getting bleach into that area where the caulk was. When I was rinsing, I could see gross stuff coming out into the tub. It was slimy, moldy stuff that looked sort of like thinly cut pieces of meat (I'm not sure that's a very good description but it's all I've got).

Is it possible that this is something from the wall? Will thinks it is leftover pieces of moldy caulk but I don't think it was. Now I'm afraid to seal up that area, as if the backing wall is moldy, it will continue to grow. What are the chances of that?
