Most people expect major characters to die. The internet is ablaze with speculation on who will live and who will die. I don't think people expect all deaths to occur in the last episode. Especially since we know there's a year time gap at some point.
As I said earlier in the thread, how can the public know Walt is Heisenberg if Gomez and Hank die right there?
