The Neverending Story with my brothers. This was the first time I noticed how hippie/antiauthority the message is.

Apparently his mother was named Moonbeam. Also, if I'd previously known that the movie was based on a book, I'd forgotten it.
guardians to the southern oracle: still awesome. evil wolf: still scary. pink dog dragon: still rape-van creepy.
Additional trivia we found: a surprisingly now-famous actor starred as the villain in Neverending Story 3. "There were two sequels???"
