Pensyltucky and the lesbiphobic prison guard certainly were to me. Their actions and motivations felt like setups to make the season ending a cliffhanger. The guard locking Chapman up in solitary for being gay felt like something out of lesser show (I'm guessing that didn't happen in real life).

Pensyltucky's decision to kill Chapman was so forced. Like "You don't believe in God and won't be baptized? I'm gonna kill you!"

I think the only reason Mendez didn't slip down to that level for me is because that actor is a star in the making, imo.
