Only been to the Amsterdam airport, but beyond the weed and red light district, they have great museums, and those canals.

Glasgow itself is not my favorite city (it's a little too like Chicago in some odd way) but it's got some great museums and Charles Rennie MacIntosh buildings. And Scotland itself is lovely.

Either is a good choice. You can't go wrong.
