For about $100, I got a new stereo with HD radio, CD player, aux in, and usb in. I'm loving it.

The only thing I really needed was aux in, but I also like the HD radio quite a bit.
The USB will let you put it a thumb drive with mp3 files, and it reads it like a CD. On mine, you can plug in your iPod that way, but it is still just a list of files.
Some fancier models can access all the iPod controls through the stereo (genre, artist, playlists, etc.).
