My guess is they wouldn't dare mention a single bit of support for this becuase it'll be seen as a capitulation to regulation.

For an entity nominally designed to support the safe and lawful exercise of firearms, they really don't support many of those programs when it comes to legality.

Off the record, with their day to day programs, they do, but that stuff doesn't get publicized because nationally, they're run by people who feel that any logical compromise from the right to bear arms is a small step down the slippery slope.
