I had proposed that the neighbor Carol drops her groceries in shock not because she recognizes the presumed dead walt but because she sees someone sneaking up behind him.
remember the ricin pill is probably for himself since he's going to die
we don't know what happened to the family, we just know they ain't living in the house. I don't know why the nazis would harm/hold hostage the family, they have the money, they have a cook.
Lydia's arc has become significant to the point that it would be a major loose thread to not have her play a big part now
