She says that there are so many new items lately that it's hard to get people up to speed (resulting in a lot of turnover) plus the new items all require investments in more equipment (that have to be purchased from the national people).
hell, they don't even bake the doughnuts anymore (for quite a while now). they come in frozen and are reheated in ovens made for that.
then there's the bagel, muffins, breakfast items, pannini sandwiches, cappuccinos, iced coffees, etc. and they all require different equipment.
plus it takes longer to get out of there if they aren't just picking a few doughnuts off the shelved
oh, and it used to be cash only, then they added tap-type credit cards, gift cards, now debit cards, and lately they are adding AMEX. All of these slow down the workers too.
